BIOGRAPHY
Darryl M. Tucker lives in Louisville, Kentucky with his wife Jennifer and their four children, Sydney,
Darryl Jr., Danyelle, and Dominque. He is a local artist here in Louisville and has been blessed to create a
variety of pieces including using charcoal, pencil sketching, and more recently painting. Darryl also took
art classes at the University of Louisville. Art has been a part of Darryl’s life since he was young, however
he only recently started painting in 2010. Darryl will admit that he has not always been confident in his
painting abilities, particularly color blending but after sketching a few canvases for someone else to
paint he was inspired to paint also. All the pencil and charcoal shading Darryl learned over the years
helped him understand how to blend colors. Each year he’s become better from trial and error and with
new projects that have increased his skill level. Darryl’s new passion is finger painting.
Darryl decided to teach his own paint classes. “Painting with Tuck” is a painting party opportunity
where Darryl will instruct an art party for various groups throughout the city of Louisville. Darryl is a
well being consultant at Humana and introduced “Painting with Tuck” to the associates to help with
engagement and give them some art therapy.
ABOUT
I have a full time job as a Well Being Consultant at Humana Inc. I love to help others in any way I can rather it be mentally, physically, or emotionally. I also personal train associates at Humana and others in the community. With me wanting to help others sincerely is what caused the job I have today to be created for me. When I’m not working, training, or doing my art I find time to bond with my family. My kids even with autism are into a lot special needs activities to keep them active. My wife is good at organizing and finding time for the family to get together and go places such as theme parks, movies, etc…
ARTIST STATEMENT
The type of art that moves me is powerful pieces that showcase lots of lights and darks. I feel like any object placed in the right area giving off the right amount of contrast can become eye catching. I love to pull out the strength and power within an object using different colors to capture the lights and darks. I work with different mediums such as Pencil, Charcoal, Watercolor, Oil, and Acrylic paint. I enjoy painting the traditional way with a brush, but my true passion is fingers on the canvas.
